    I was a student of E.Rly High School, Asansol from 1960 to 1964 after doing my primary education at Sishu Kalyan School E.Rly. Asansol. Shri Satish Chandra Moitra was our Principal. I have fond memories of my school days with vivid recollections of my teachers and fellow class students. How I wish to come into contact with my classmates like Robin Chanda of Sitarampur, Keshab Chandra Seal, Aloke Mitra, Apurba Roy from Old Station, Pranab Mondal (Bokababa) and others. I remember the school playground where football and cricket used to be played on regular basis. There was traditional rivalry between E.Rly School and Ramakrishna Mission School like that of Mohunbagan and East Bengal Club. I also remember the Rly Week in our ground that used to be held in the first week of April every year. Our school building had rather peculiar structural design : single storied from G.T. Road, but two storied from playground DRM Office side. We had an imposing gymnaesium hall and further beyond it there was our tiffin room.I can still smell imaginatively the fresh bread and butter/jam/jelly from Abdul Wahid's confectionary shop.
